Since our twin girls were born a year ago, I’ve gotten numerous requests from expecting friends for my list of “must-haves”. I guess they think I have twice the experience with having had twins…or at least that our baby gear gets double the work-out.
A mom of young twins certainly has her hands full – to the point that she sometimes must engage her feet, as well! J With this in mind, there are a few items that I would not want to have lived without…
- A Boppy® pillow for each baby. In addition to its use as a nursing pillow, I used our Boppy® pillows to position our girls for bottle feedings. Even as tiny infants, the pillows allowed me to feed them at the same time. Until the girls became really mobile and could sit by themselves, the Boppy® pillows served as an extra set of hands. And one additional note…. I saved the vinyl bags that the pillows came in. We used them to carry the pillows when we travelled.
- Dr. Brown’s® Formula pitcher mixer. We had to supplement with formula from the time that the girls came home from the hospital. One of the most stressful parts of my day was trying to make sure I got all the lumps out of their milk, while trying not to introduce too much gas-causing air….UNTIL I came across the Dr. Brown’s® Formula Pitcher Mixer. It is designed similarly to a French coffee press, and mixes the formula perfectly every time. We had two to allow me to make enough milk for both girls for one day.
- Kiddopotamus® SwaddleMe blankets. From Day 1, our girls loved being tightly swaddled. Doing so seemed to send them right to sleep. However, it wasn’t long before they seemed to outgrow their receiving blankets, allowing them to wiggle right out of their warm cocoons….and that would cause them to wake. Even our most cunning Houdini-Girl couldn’t shed the Kiddopotamus® SwaddleMe blankets, though! The girls never came un-swaddled again, and I credit this to them learning to sleep through the night.
Oh, and you can NEVER have enough bibs, burp cloths, and wash cloths!
What are your must-have items?
